Console Tables By India Jane
Often a narrow table is perfect for making use of finite spaces, providing additional display areas for ornaments or simply giving you additional storage space for smaller items. In our collection, you’ll find hand-picked examples from our partner brands, such as Eichholtz, as well as console tables designed and produced by ourselves. Available in several styles, you’ll find a console table that fits seamlessly in your home with ease.
A Brief History of Console Tables
The console table is one of the most common pieces of statement furniture - typically located in the entryway, a hallway or foyer, they are designed to optimise storage or to provide a display area in smaller spaces. Sometimes also referred to as a sofa table, sideboard, or telephone table, a console table can also be used to create a feature in a wall recess beside a fireplace or chimney breast.
Traditionally, console tables only had two front legs and were secured against a wall at the back edge, creating an elegant standing display counter. As demand for the product increased, additional features were gradually added, such as draws, integrated mirrors, and additional shelving. Ornately decorated with features synonymous with the baroque and neoclassical eras, the console table represents an opportunity to add a touch of elegance to otherwise redundant parts of the home.
Slim Console Tables & Drinks Trolleys
India Jane’s range of contemporary tables and drinks trolleys encapsulate a wide range of finishes, including marble tops, antique wood, elegant chrome and glass, as well as wrought iron and rustic stone compositions. Our table selection was specially created to ensure there are several options to appeal to your own unique interior style, seamlessly integrating with your theme and complimenting your existing furniture.
Console Tables: An On-Trend Accessory
A console table is versatile and can have a number of uses in the modern home. However, of all the places you’re likely to see a one, they are most commonly found making a statement in the hallway, placed close to the front door, providing functional storage space for handy items you need when leaving the house, such as car keys or a dog lead.
It is possible to create the illusion of more space, simply hang an oversized mirror in an ornate frame at the back of your hallway table, increasing the amount of light and making even the smallest of spaces feel brighter.
